“So this is the future of the human race,” Harper said, staring through the Plexiglas wall. “Not bad. Not bad at all.”
Thomas rapidly tapped the keys at the computer terminal in the observation booth of Lab A. Images on the screen flashed too quickly for Harper to read, but Thomas seemed to read and reject them with ease.
“You’re a computer geek too?” Harper said. “I should have known.”
He ignored her and continued typing, scrolling, opening and closing files, moving windows. A puddle of water accumulated under his chair from his wet clothes. “Okay. The only entrance to this corridor is locked. That gives us a little time.”
“How long before they break through?”
